Fairy Land by Liam Miller

The sun glistens off all the living things

That gather to rejoice the newborn spring

As we both walk across the narrow bridge

To go and meet their newly risen king

This king’s light shines down on their fairy land

As we go out and do as we had planned

The fish, the bees, the flowers, grass and trees

All equally as radiant and grand

These living things like fairies watch us run

Through the forest as we have always done

They chirp, and flutter in the cool spring breeze

As we, oblivious, go ‘bout our fun

Life’s beauty around us goes on and on

From the first faint ray of days wondrous dawn

Until night engulfs the sparkling day

And all the life that made us smile is gone

I miss you more than any poem could say

And often find myself remembering days

When we would walk through fairy lands and smile

Knowing that it all had to end someday
