Slow It Down by Carlos Soto

Updated: Feb 27, 2021

I

think

of you

as I pass

pink water hyacinths.

We sat by the water and thought,

“If we could freeze time right now, we certainly wouldn't.”

We wanted to keep moving, rushing forward with our lives. We wanted it all. We couldn't stop.

We fast forward five years; we're living our best lives. You give me the fire that I need. I give you the chill that makes you stop and think. My love,

we're yin and yang, day and night, black and white: every overused cliche in your mind.

Now I just want to slow down, take a deep breath with you.

We have our troubles,

but darling,

we are

still

young.
